Maybe they are a little mood specific, I can take them in about any mood though.
Rise is one of my favorite travel songs, even on a skateboard, but dig its movement on a motorcycle, if you get a chance try it on the road.

The pistols blew the house down, while PiL tried to get it without anyone noticing. Both bands tried to challenge popular music. I prefer the simplicity of the Pistols, loud and sarcastic Chuck Berry inspired rock n roll.

Talking to some friends about PIL we were all agreed that they blow the Pistols out of the water.

Metal Box = Wow

What do you lot think?

I see, at least we are agreed.

What's your favorite album

DJB1975 08-17-2009 05:33 PM

Any self respecting music person should own at least 5 Can albums

Monster Movies to Soon Over Babaluma is regarded as their finest period but check out Landed and Flow Motion as well

The first three albums and a couple of their singles after that, period. Then again, those three albums are enough for me to forget about the bland Late 80's excuses to continue the name. Appearing on Tops of the Pops miming "The Flowers of Romance," clearly shoving away anything else on that show, or even turning the Band Spotlight on American Bandstand into a fun moment in TV history has already earned them a place in music history.

...are basically the albums of theirs that I hold in the highest regard. The Order Of Death aside, I absolutely despise This Is What You Want, This Is What You Get, but besides that I wouldn't call any of their other studio albums below average. There are plenty of great songs from past the supposed cut-off point with PIL (Home, Don't Ask Me, Warrior, Seattle, God and so on), but I agree the rest of the albums aren't exactly brilliant.

Only have Metal Box, but lo and behold it is like nothing else under the sun.

It's funny how many people dislike This Is What You Want, This Is What You Get. It's my second favorite PiL album after Album/Compact Disc/Cassette.
