I'll look it up. Thanks buddy.

explosions-in-my-pants 08-07-2006 10:38 AM

Then why can't it happen to HIM?!

Im actually gutted about this news...Lame

explosions-in-my-pants 08-07-2006 01:59 PM

well they were kind taking there time making a new album, so it wasn't hard to see something was up. I mean yea for some bands it takes up to 5 years or more to make another album, but not normaly when its just there second real album.

mosesandtherubberducky 08-07-2006 02:29 PM

*pauses*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

wtf? why? and how and again why?!?!?!

this sucks :(

_Spinning_ 08-07-2006 02:35 PM

Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

Tis a shame as I quite enjoyed these guys.

R.I.P :(

right-track 08-07-2006 02:39 PM

I have no idea who these people are.
Judging by the response, they seem popular.

Info please.

mosesandtherubberducky 08-07-2006 02:41 PM

Noise rock

it was two guys, one would play drums and the other played a distorted bass. the drummer would sing and the bassist would sometimes play a synth. They are in a sense a wall of noise. And very good. I could upload the Romantic Rights EP or You're a Woman, I'm a Machine LP for anyone that doesn't have it/wants it.

right-track 08-07-2006 02:45 PM

Cheers moses.

i wouldn't say they were noise rock, more like dance rock....
i liked one or two songs...never really got into them....and tis a good thing they split, that whole two man operation is really a one trick pony...

explosions-in-my-pants 08-07-2006 04:58 PM

I much found Romantic rights to be really cool, it had all I think the same songs that were on there album, only they were very dance able.. and less punkier, and more up beat.. but I can honestly say, it was easy coming.

I'm sorry but that is nearly un-readable. And Romantic Rights was an EP recorded before You're a Woman I'm a Machine. Romance Bloody Romance (which I think you're talking about) is re-mixes and b-sides.

Believe it or not, not all North American bands are second rate Euro rip offs.
Shocking, I know.

Damn you`ve found me out , i`ll go hang my head somewhere.

Death From Above 1979

Have you guys ever heard these guys? It's insane amazing music. It's a drummer/vocalist with a bassist/synthesizer. It's too bad they broke up but the music is amazingly crazy. I love it I think you guys should check it out it would change your lives!

Piss Me Off 04-21-2008 07:57 AM

Ignore my old post, in hindsight a new album would be awesome.

Seltzer 04-21-2008 07:59 AM

All DFA1979 threads merged.

Billy_Martin 04-27-2008 05:24 PM

I saw this band when they were just Death From Above... I enjoyed them.

Sneer 02-10-2009 03:46 PM

I've been listening to Heads Up! and YAWIAM a lot lately, i love both so so much...

What i would do to see them reform...

Mojo 02-21-2009 02:49 PM

I'm listening to these guys right now, first time in a long time. I'd almost forgot how much I ****ing love You're A Woman, I'm A Machine. It's just such a dirty, noisy mess of an album while still being really great party music. I have a mix to make for a mates birthday party and these guys are now definitely included. I will have to check the remix/B sides album out and the EP's.

Romantic Rights (and no its not your speakers dying in the middle section, I'm just thinking that the dummer probably wished he had a mic picking up that Megaphone. Whoops.

jacklovezhimself 02-21-2009 02:58 PM

I love them so much omfg.

Sebastien Grainger said this about the band name:

Quote:

1979 is the year of my birth,
1979 is the year of Off the Wall, (Michael Jackson)
1979 is the year of Pleasure Principle, (Gary Numan)
1979 is the last year of the last cool decade,
1979 is scratched into my arm,
1979 is scratched into my arm,
1979 is scratched into my ****ing arm.

Violent & Funky 03-18-2010 04:19 AM

I think I'm in love!

This is about the fastest I have ever gotten into a band. I guess it makes sense, what with me loving bass-heavy music and the whole noise/garage indie rock thing...

The Fascinating Turnip 03-30-2010 11:14 AM

Listened to YAWIAM just now and liked it quite a bit, raw energy right there.

Death From Above 1979

The are a very catchy kind of dance rock band and their songs also make for great remixes. Check out MSTRKRFT if you are real into Death From Above 1979

Interesting. I've heard Heads Up but would never have said that. YAWIAM is one of my favourites though so maybe I just need to listen to it some more.

GreenMeany 10-08-2010 07:20 AM

Ahh..I loved these guys back when they were still active. I remember catching them in a small venue opening for Danko Jones before YAWIAM came out. I had no idea they'd get so big. I'd love to say that I wish they'd reform, but I'm not sure how much else they could have accomplished being a drum & bass duo.
