Julian Casablancas' Solo Turn?

Huge fan of the strokes, and even though they won't be releasing new material this year, I'm still VERY excited at the prospect of a Julian Casablancas album.

hopefully it won't be as self-loathing as First Empressions Of Earth, which was, by all accounts, a Casablancas solo album anyway.

That little bitty preview sounded better than anything off of First Impressions.

The Strokes' Julian Casablancas posts first solo song online
Listen to '11th Dimension' now

The Strokes' Julian Casablancas has posted a new solo song, '11th Dimension', on his official MySpace page, Myspace.com/juliancasablancas.

The track will be released as a single on November 2 following the release of the frontman's debut solo album, 'Phrazes For The Young', released on October 19.

Speaking to NME.COM previously about his songwriting process, Casablancas said: "I write stuff on a generic keyboard that has an organ or electric piano sound. Or on a guitar, but then, as I was building the song, if I thought it should be more like a whistling sound, with a keyboard and a laptop, it's easy to make that particular melody anything you want.

"I wasn't really acquiring any old, cool gear [to make the album], it was working with friends and engineers who had programs that could find any sound your heart desired!"

Julain Casblancas has said that he plans to play UK live dates soon – The Strokes man made his solo live debut in Tokyo last month.

I've heard it. I didn't like it. Though I think he'll still pull it out of the bag - as was mentioned by dac, the music playing in the preview sounded BIG

Me too! I didn't like 11th Dimension very much the first time I heard it, but now I loved it.

how would you guys rate this against albie's solo efforts?

Considering I'd strongly question whether The Strokes are still active,I'm looking forward to the album.

It basically sounds exactly the same as The Strokes. Still very good though!

Considering the Strokes were very heavily dominated by him and his sole songwriting credits that isn't really a surprise.

Got the album. Very good. Reminiscent of First Impressions of Earth, except less scattered (as you'd expect with it only being 8 songs long). A tight, cohesive little gem that has exceeded my expectations.
