I understand how you feel though about the annoyance of repeated listens, I'm starting to feel that way with Humbug. For every Arctic Monkey album I've had to listen to it a total of three times before I really began to enjoy it, this includes their debut. I knew this going into Humbug but I still can't bring myself to like it. It's got some decent songs but it's nothing great. I liked the maturity that I heard in Favourite Worst Nightmare, however I think Alex needed to turn down the reverb on his voice a tad bit. Anyways I forgot where I was going with this post, but I understand how you feel.
I thought Humbug was pretty boring, and a bit too close to queens of the stone age esque pastiche for my liking. To be honest though, I haven't really liked them since their debut.

YES! They are amazing. probably most overlooked great album of this year. I listed them as my honorable mention on my post. They did basically their whole album when i saw them open for Grizzly Bear and everyone in the audience had that "who are THESE guys?!!" look on their face.

On a side note, both times I have seen GB they had good opening bands. Last month they had Beach House, who I had never heard and am glad I finally did.

Can we all just agree that Farm was the best release of the year?

Negative. I find it quite boring. And finding a consensus on something like that is impossible.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I've given it a few chances now, and although it has some really good songs on it i find myself drifting in and out of focus, it doesnt hold my attention captive for the whole album. So no, it wouldnt perforate my top 5. And this is coming from a big Dinosaur Jr fan, needless to say i was left slightly disappointed and baffled by the acclaim.

On another note, the more i listen to the Here We Go Magic s/t the more im beginning to think it's the best thing i've heard this year. The videos for Fangela and Tunnelvision are exquisite too, check em out.
