I have no idea how that happened because most chavs I know won't have heard of Modest Mouse..

You're from Seattle, do you know what they are? How do you know? - I'm making them sound like some mystic creature.

At least with 'trailer trash' there's a bit of a connection...but that wasn't even accounted for.
Not gonna lie, it crossed my mind.

In fact, I was wondering if that was how TheCunningStunt knew what trailer trash is...

I have a good idea what chavs are. I think I learned it from Lady Sovereign.

As a matter of fact I was walking downtown earlier today and saw this guy and said "hmm, he looks like a chav".

From what I gather, the closest thing is a whigger (but not an all-out hardcore ghetto one). Athletic shoes, track jackets, track suits, etc. and tend to listen to hip-hop and electronic music perhaps. Trailer trash are usually dirtier and not as specific...some are into rap, some rock and metal, some country, etc. But they're generally dirty whereas chavs, from my understanding, care more about appearances and like to show off their cash/bling/whatever.

Yeah I'd say your perception of them is pretty much the best I'm gonna get from someone over the pond. They like to show off brands like Nike, as if they're fashionable. It's more the 'G wannabes' that wanna show off their bling but I get what you mean.

It's kind of wrong to categorise people, people with longish hair (Alex Turner 2007 long, not long like now..) are considered the Indie cool type. Number 2 and a trim on top is considered chavvy. If you shop at Topman (dunno if they have Topman over there) It used to be the Indie type shop where all the cool people go, if you shopped there you were cool... until the chavs started taking a fancy to it.

Yeah I didn't mean bling like gold chains and jewelry, I just meant show off what they have and that they can afford stuff, namely athletic brands like Adidas, Nike, etc.

A lot of the characters in British gangster flicks that are basically dumb errand boys for the mobsters are usually portrayed as chavs, right? I'm thinking Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, for example, one of the two dudes stealing the rifles was a chav. I think there are some in every British gangster action/comedy.

Hey I wonder if Modest Mouse will ever release another album I like? That would be cool.

Yeah! The two scousers. (the two fellas that talk like complete twats.) They are both from Liverpool arguably the chavviest area in the UK. There's even jokes about them..

What do you call a Scouser in a suit?

The defendant.

So yeah if any American wants to know what a chav is. Watch Lock Stock

Most of the songs just make me cringe. Sounds too contrived, don't like his lyrical approach on it and half of Good News... which in turn has greatly affected his vocal style.

I haven't listened to We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank yet, still going through their back catalogue. Not heard their first or last album yet.. I adore Good News though
