Under The Western Freeway is my favorite Grandaddy album and it kills me they broke up. Although Jason Lytle is releasing a solo album on May 19. Needless to say I'm very excited because I think he's a great songwriter.

I admit, it was always harder for me to come by a pop music that will grab me, hook me, always more difficult to get into it. But when I heard "The Sophtware Slump", shortly after it came out, it was love on first hearing. 'The Crystal Lake', 'Hewlett's Daughter', 'Miner at the Dial-A-View', etc, and especially my favorite 'He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's The Pilot' are all wonderful songs with melodies that melt my heart. It's one of the most beautiful pop albums I've ever heard.

I completely agree with this. I'm listening to The Sophtware Slump right now after not having heard it quite a while and it really is a fantastic album. I'm also a big fan of Sumday. It's funny, I actually sort of avoid both of these albums a bit now though. I find they make me feel almost painfully nostalgic for the period of my life when they were new.

Grandaddy was awesome. I saw them in 2002-ish with Low in Seattle. Cool show. Low was boring as ****.

I also like that "Walk up The Side of The Mountain" video or whatever it's called.
