I've messed around in some math rock, not a whole lot, but of what I've heard, Battles' Mirrored and Lightning Bolt's Wonderful Rainbow are my favorites.

If math rock musicians don't like the term "math rock," then what term would they prefer? (If one at all)

Not sure if this is exactly Math Rock, but it's awesome, so I'm posting it anyways.

I am surprised many haven't heard of this Irish band:

The album 'Red in Tooth and Claw' is well worth a listen.

Slint - Spiderland
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crimes
Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles
Faraquet/Akarso - Split
Faraquet - The View from this Tower
Rodan - Rusty
U.S. Maple - Talker
Shellac - At Action Park
Dazzling Killmen - Face of Collapse
June of 44 - Four Great Points
Smart Wet Crazy - Con Art

some that came to mind off the bat. Some are hand in hand with post-hardcore and noise rock. But all great albums.

Our First American Friends by Tubelord is my favorite math rock album bar none. They even did an acoustic version of the whole album

Can't wait for the follow-up

Dude... I see those guys on a regular basis, due to the fact they live in the small English town called Kingston-Upon-Thames that I do. When I tell them that a guy from America thinks their album is the best math rock he's heard, they'll ejaculate.

Btw, you do realise there's One For The Grandparents too right? The EPs are good as well.

yeah I referred to For the Grandparents (acoustic version of OFAM) and I do dig the EPs. If you honestly intend to tell them that then that'd be awesome
