I like Okkervil River though. I enjoyed that album.
i can't really agree on really comparing okkervil river and the arcade fire much at all besides the fact that they both have a very "indie" sound. and comparing muse and radiohead is REALLY valid considering radiohead is a DIRECT influence on Muse's work. Muse really took Radiohead's sound, took all of the creativity out of it, then added some orchestral bits and some harder rock influences and BAM! a hit was born.

Default Okkervil River

Has anyone ever heard of this band? Found them some months ago and they've slowly become one of my favorite bands.

If anyone decides to get an album Black Sheep Boy and The Stage Names are pretty entry level.

I love Okkervil River. Lost Coastlines, off of the Stand-Ins album is one of my favorite songs.

I want a new album. As much as I love pop culture references and porn stars I want Will Sheff to unleash the inner demon again.

Black Sheep Boy is undeniably their most powerful album. IMO.

Yeah, BSB is far superior to the last two as a whole album. There have been great songs. But as an album, start to finish, BSB can't be beat in the Okkervil River catalog, IMO. "Black" is a fantastically angry and dark song.

What do you guys think of their earlier albums? I'm loving Down the River of Golden Dreams but I can't really get into Don't Fall in Love With Everyone You See.

They're all OK to Good. I like the dark vibe of BSB the most - all the earlier stuff is definitely sunnier.
