So, i've taken the time to give it more listens and it has grown on me. My favourite tracks are John Allyn Smith Sails and Plus Ones. I like it a lot now and am glad i gave it another try.

It's a completely different direction than Black Sheep, I basically can't stop listening to this album.

Yeah they'd said in an interview they didn't want it to be as emotional.

^Which is good, I think the variations from album to album make them such an amazing band. Each album has a completely seperate feel.

That is a very true statement. My new favorite track is A Hand To Take Hold Of The Scene, it's so catchy.

I read the Pitchfork review and it said it was totally different from BSB, and lo and behold, it really is. It's much more upbeat.

Well you said you liked For Real best, but the rest sucked and Black is upbeat but you said it sucked too so I didn't think you'd like it.

John Allyn Smith Sails destroys, its one of my favorite songs by them now. Savannah Smiles is just beautiful.

The more I listen to The Stage Names the more I think that Unless It's Kicks is the best track on the album, and I'd even go so far as to say it's one of my top three favorite Okkervil River tracks. Not only that, but The Stage Names has passed Don't Fall In love..... for my spot for second favorite Okkervil River album, with Black Sheep Boy still holding down first .
Musically, The Stage Names is above all of the other albums and it's such a fresh direction for them that I just can't stop listening to it.

"What brakes this heart the most is the ghost of some rock and roll fan, exploding up from the stands with her heart opened up. I want to tell her, "Your love isn't lost....""

That song is just so full of energy and passion, and musically it has to be my favorite Okkervil River track.
