what bands are they similar to?
|
People have said Porcupine Tree.
I think they sound more like when you have reached the last level of a video game, and it starts of slow with some piano and crescendo's into some epic sounding guitar blasting, and you think the world might come to an end if you dont beat it.... Well it is something kinda like that. |
Placebo, radiohead and queen are bands regularly thrown out to describe muse's sound. Whether you agree with such comparisons or not is another topic all together
|
I've never managed to find a band to compare them to myself but I can definitely hear the Radiohead thing on the first album.
|
The comparisons to other bands make MUSE sound original! They are a band that has coalesced the sound of 70's prog with 80's metal riffs. They can be terribly bombastic, and shít hot in equal measure.

So pumped!!!! Dude. Muse are insane live. One of the best in the world (At the moment). http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5447/mattya0.jpg |
I don't think Radiohead serves as a good reference point for describing Muse's sound. Queen is more accurate though only in some respects. The best adjective to describe this band would be: theatrical.
Essentially, one thing Muse can probably be credited with having, at the end of the day, is their own sound. It just doesn't sound that good. |
*gasp* </3

I think I'm the only one who hears this as everyone I mention it to thinks I'm nuts but they sound like a heavier They Might Be Giants. Every time I hear a Muse song I think of Robot Parade for some reason.
