Idk man, I thought Hullabaloo was going to suck when I sampled it on the itunes store. But I love it so much I think it's better than some of their studio albums. I just sampled the new album and I think it sounds pretty great, Exogenesis sounds like the epic potential I've been waiting for and Undisclosed Desires sounds like a really good electronica number.

From the previews, the album sounds like it's gonna suck big style. There's no energy or emotion or diversity or anything - just really mediocre stadium rock with a few studio tricks to give the illusion of variety.

And what's happened to Matt's voice? He sounds like he really isn't trying anymore.

I agree with this, I think it's better than Showbiz (barely) and BH&R.

And of course The Resistance

This seeming disinterest seems to echo alot of reactions to the alleged new Radiohead track floating around... could it be we build such big expectations of albums / new music in our minds that its almost impossible for musicians to live up to them... or do both the new muse and Radiohead truly suck ass....

You're all judging the album based on a few short preview clips? Blah.

Well with Radiohead people do have high expectations because their last 6 albums are so critically acclaimed the pressure comes to go even better with the next album. With Muse however I'm not sure what people want from them. I think people want them to return their OSS Absolution sound, but I think the band has grown out of that and are making music they want to make which good. And if they want to indulge more in pop or symphonics good for them.

Exactly when USE and Uprising came out some of you were being judgmental of those who thought the album was going to suck based on those songs, well those tracks were full length tracks, these clips aren't even a minute. And already have a feeling I'm going to enjoy this one more than Blackholes.

But how come people are allowed to have a good feeling based on the 30 second clips but not a bad one? I've been running into the same argument on the Muse boards and it doesn't really stand up to scrutiny :\

I think the band sounds better here than they do now. That whole OSS era was really their peak. To bad the dressed so awful, I mean really Matt and his hellraiser spiked hair looked so ridiculous. But nowadays the band is really styling.
What about the live disc? The DVD is very, very good.

Saying I have a good feeling is different than saying this album is going to suck. Saying the album is going to bomb is a prediction where feelings are based on hope.

The live is great as well. I thought the Tom Waits 'What's He Building?' added to the sinister atmosphere and Matt takes the vocals on Micro Cuts to a whole new operatic level. Sound quality is great, better than HAARP. I haven't seen the DVD though. I've only seen some performances from youtube and where Hullabaloo has HARRP beat on sound HAARP over takes it on looks, I really hate Matt's pinhead outfit.

My comment was about people judging the album already, I said nothing about if it was positive or negative. Saying "OMG THIS ALBUM WILL BE THE BEST EVAR!!!!" is just as dumb as saying it'll be terrible. Let's all withhold judgment for now.
