Not so serious actually:

Dom and Matt switched places. Look at how Matt's playing the drums

The official video is really cool, i like it. I don't really get the hating on that song here, it surprises me a little. It's the most typically Muse sounding song on the new album which I felt would lead to a more positive response. It may very well be one of the tracks on this record that I bore of very easily, its happened before with the tracks you can pick out as definite future singles but with most of them I usually end up getting back into after a while.

That "live" video is hilarious! Does anyone know why they did that? Was it because they got told they had to mime it or what? Thats the only reason i've ever seen it happen before when band members swap places and take the piss. Matt looks like a kid on Christmas morning playing those drums.

Yes, they were told they had to mime when they wanted to play live so they switched places. The girl hosting the show didn't notice it because she probably didn't know too much about the band. The interview at the end is really funny too with Dom pretending to be the band's front man.

Yeah it was an entertaining video. That girl even introduced them as THE Muse so you have a point, she probably wasnt exactly clued up on the band.

Top of the Pops (a UK top 40 type show that aired on the BBC for a long, long time) often made bands mime (someone may be able to confirm exactly for me because they DID sometimes have live bands and sometimes not) and I remember watching Oasis on TOTP when I was about 11 and they swapped places. They also said it was because they werent given a choice and werent permitted to perform live.

Nirvana did this on TOTP:

Also, this wasn't the first time Muse has done it:

I love how Matt (probably purposefully) drops a drumstick or something at the very beginning and steps away from the drum kit yet the drums keep beating...

The Muse one is weird too, more so than the other video because it seems if they wanted to take the piss they could have done so much more, made it so much more blatantly obvious.

This is the Oasis one. I especially like the bands reaction to Liam Gallaghers "guitar solo".

Ridiculous really. Just let bands play live!

In the Nirvana one, the music was being piped in. Kurt's mic was the only thing that was on.

In the second Muse one... they didn't do enough? Swinging the guitar over your head rather than playing it isn't enough? Haha, to me it was awesome. Bellamy went crazy.

That was some pretty epic break dancing he did at the end.

So they're opening for U2 in the upcoming months, is that it or are they gonna come back to the US? I know they aren't nearly as big here as they are in most of the world. I think Dom put it best when he said 'We're the biggest band in the world America knows nothing about." I'm still pretty new to the band and am wondering if they will return to the states as headliners sometime in the near future.
