You need a poll first.

I know. I accidentally posted this without a poll. I PMed Tore about it, but I never got an answer. How do I add one back? Or do you just do it since you're a mod?

dankrsta 02-25-2011 06:34 PM

You can't add it after submitting a thread. But it's ok, I added it.

Sneer 02-25-2011 06:47 PM

The Autolux and Women albums are superb. Havent heard the others except for my suggestion, will be interesting to see where this goes.

Yea, I'm voting for Autolux. I remember checking out their stuff a while back and thought I'd go back to it. Never did.

Thanks

Crap...I actually wanted to vote for the Eric's Trip album...oh well, I'll just pick it up on my own time.

RVCA 02-25-2011 08:50 PM

I've listened to that Autolux album a good number of times and tried out M83 a while back and didn't really care for it, so I voted for Stu's nomination

Zer0 02-26-2011 10:19 AM

I'm actually interested in checking out that Eric's Trip album, i've heard some good things about them and Stu's description is very interesting.

Odyshape 02-27-2011 02:18 PM

Women <3 their from my town

James 02-27-2011 03:01 PM

only heard Women and Eric's Trip. Both amazing. I voted for Autolux.

TockTockTock 02-27-2011 06:48 PM

We have a tie so far... If someone could break it, then that would be wonderful. I'll give this till 8:30 tonight, and then I'll find a moderator to close the thread. Of course, if this ends in a tie, then we'll have to vote between the two (so, I'll have to get a moderator to change the poll). We'll vote until 8:30 tomorrow night, and then we'll see who wins. Remember that this will only happen if it ends in a tie tonight.

Sneer 02-28-2011 10:01 AM

Got to go with my own nomination... I love Future Perfect, but I've had many discussions about that album before, Eric's Trip don't get enough love.

TockTockTock 02-28-2011 03:16 PM

Unable to vote for some reason.

dankrsta 02-28-2011 03:54 PM

The poll probably didn't reset properly. I'll edit it, but this one new vote will be lost.

Eric's Trip - Love Tara

This album is just a classic of the lo-fi Indie genre. Fifteen songs as emotionally and musically raw as you could possibly fathom. It's moody and confrontational, with acidic distortion ripping through melancholic melodies and at times overbearing feedback warping surprisingly tight musicianship. This album was recorded in the midst of the breakdown of a relationship between two of the band members, and you can tell, the tension kicks out at the listener throughout the album's duration. How Fleetwood Mac of them eh.

We'll begin discussion next week.

TockTockTock 03-04-2011 06:25 PM

New poll is up.

Sneer 03-04-2011 07:39 PM

What's the new one for?

For voting for the next album we're going to listen to. We listen to more than one album you know. I'm going to set up a thread for the Eric's Trip album Monday and we'll begin discussion. I'll do the same for the winner of this poll the Monday after that.

Sneer 03-04-2011 07:50 PM

Yeah, I know that. I thought we'd be voting on a new batch of nominations, that's all.

Well, we would still be voting on the previous nominations but we would also vote on the newer ones (which have yet to come). So, we are stuck with the ones that have already been nominated.

For me this is one of the standout indie/alternative albums of the 00's. It incorporates a lot of influences ranging from space-rock, shoegaze, post-punk, Swirlies, etc. and is such an enjoyable album to listen to from start to finish without skipping a track. This album is a great discovery for anyone.

RVCA 03-08-2011 11:51 PM

I'm excited for this week's choice, seeing as I already know I love it

Badlittlekitten 03-10-2011 08:12 AM

I already know the M83 album, I didn't like Womens first record and the Los Campensenos comparison put me off Johnny F, so I voted Autolux as the description sounds interesting.

Voting is done. Autolux is the album we are currently listening to. We'll begin discussion of it next Monday.

TockTockTock 03-11-2011 07:36 PM

Poll is back up again. I wish there were more nominations.

music_phantom13 03-11-2011 11:17 PM

I'd like to jump in on this, but I haven't really been around. I'll try to nominate something for the next round. I did vote though.

Zer0 03-12-2011 07:39 AM

I'm a bit confused, should we be sending in new nominations?
Anyway in this poll I voted for M83 because I love that album a lot.

Yes, we need more nominations so this club can continue. Not to mention everyone loves a little variety. Also, if you've already listened to the M83 album, then it kind of defeats the purpose of being in the club because the reason it exists is to explore different artists.

I'll probably end up nominating a Shearwater album next time. They're just... ****ing great.

RVCA 03-12-2011 12:03 PM

Where's the thread for Future Perfect?

Oh, right

TockTockTock 03-18-2011 08:21 PM

Poll is up.

Zer0 03-19-2011 10:00 AM

I'm interested in checking out that Woods album. I only have their last album At Echo Lake and it's pretty good.

TockTockTock 03-20-2011 07:33 PM

Wow... only two votes. Alright, then. I guess we're going to listen to the Woods album. You guys know what to do...

TockTockTock 03-25-2011 04:39 PM

Poll is up.

music_phantom13 03-27-2011 02:14 PM

I'm confused we need a rules page or something. I want to nominate something, but I'm not sure where to do it...

http://ts4.mm.bing.net/images/thumbn...nload-346.jpeg

A Whisper in the Noise's discography has never had a complete definition in terms of genre. Most go with modern progressive rock, post-rock, indie rock, shoegaze, alternative rock, art rock, and sometimes experimental rock (although to a lesser degree). But regardless of the genre's label, their music is great, and I attempted to promote them a bit when I first joined this site. Their debut in particular has always been my favorite, and it has a more interesting sound than their more "popular" album, Dry Land (2007) which is still great all in its own. Through the Ides of March utilizes many classical instruments such as the cello, french horn, and violin which allows West Thordson, the frontman, to have more freedom when composing the music.

The overall sound of the album is very dark and can range anything from mellow to spastic and loud (which is best exemplified by "Seeing You" - the fourth track in the album). The lyrics are also very interesting because he manages to create a lot of meaning with such a minimalistic way of writing them (kind of similar to what Emily ****inson did). Anyways... that's it.
