OH NO YOU DID-ENT
My argument: Turner has written more good songs alone over the course of two albums and an EP than there are on all the Libertines LPs and EPs. Not by a great margin, by a small margin - but CRUCIALLY, he did it alone. No collabs... except on maximally one or two tracks.

If you consider his songs to be good then we obvz harbor differing opinions on what makes a good song but in any case diligence and productivity do not necessarily indicate a good talent.

No. But very clever lyrics and great tunes do.

Both, for sure. Carl, more on the music side, and Pete probably more on the lyrical side.

Pete Doherty is the modern musical equivalent to John Keats imo

They both have terrible bands. Sadly. Calling one better than the other would be like praising a sewage system above a dirty privy.
