Default the Mountain Goats: Lo-fi era or hi-fi era?

the Mountain Goats just so happen to be the best thing that has graced the Earth. They (John Darnielle) started out just playing into a boom box, he switched to a full band in a full studio. Now, I love both his lo-fi and his hi-fi stuff, but I was wondering which one you favor.

Definitely and by far the "lo-fi era"
Sweden is still easily my favorite album.

Agreed. I like lo-fi in general but Mountain Goats do it best as far as I'm concerned.

This is probably my favorite song I've heard by them, I'm gonna go with Lo-fi.
