Blue and Pinkerton are bar none the masterwork of Weezer. The rest of their albums have much lower musicianship and less well written lyrics, after Make Believe it honestly sounds like Rivers stopped trying to be ironically hip and just trying to be hip. The last 3 albums have just been depressing. Long live 1990's Rivers!

I think they've kinda turned into a novelty act and there is very little intelligence or insight in their music to be honest. It's sad because they had major potential to be a really cool band for the entirety of their career... they chose the sucky sellout path instead.

I saw them live on Friday when they performed a free concert at Ohio State. I gotta admit, I expected them to disappoint but their live show was awesome! They did a very entertaining cover of 'Kids' by MGMT that included Cuomo putting on a blond wig and singing 'Poker Face' during a bridge in the song. Plus, all their great hits from the past (ewwwy new Weezer)...

I didn't mind their latest album, Hurley too much. It had one really great song, Unspoken. Of course Pinkerton and Blue = The Rock.

i'm reading this book on the history of emo etc. and there is a chapter solely about what weezer did for the emo genre. since i was about four when it came out i never knew that Rivers was so disappointed with the album. and that it sold pretty badly after its release. just thought i would share.

Mind giving me a name of it? Pretty interesting how the genre managed to build up a following, briefly dominate modern rock and disappear back into the abyss with no real mainstream coverage until 2005.

Yeah yeah. It's called Nothing Feels Good by And GreenWald. I haven't finished it yet but so far it's really interesting. I would suggest it if you don't know much about emo, like me.
