Yeah I heard the home recordings were good. I can respect trying different sounds and not trying to replicate past success but to me it sounds like they put more effort into their music on the first two albums and then they said "hey, let's just play straight forward rock n roll... why bust our asses? we already have fans".
they deffinatley put the most work into theyre debut but what about the green album? island in the sun ftw!

I honestly never liked that song but I know a lot of people do. I was actually going through Summer song compilations and there it was, so I guess it has been accepted by many folks. The Green album wasn't bad it just seemed more lazy then their prior attempts.

I loved Pinkerton and The Blue album is a close second... I saw them play in Athens, Ga when I was 16 lets see... that was 7 years ago wow I feel old. I turned my back on Rivers when he sold out and started making horrible music for lots of money, what a shame he used to be amazing.

Its not that they don't put effort into their post-Pinkerton work...Rivers just doesn't have it anymore. They havent changed their sound one bit, its just that the newer songs are boring and predictable-granted they always played power-pop, its not like the Blue Album was unpredictable...but lately the songwriting has just been sub-par to say the least.
