Default King Krule

Before I get started,

A) I put this thread in Indie & Alternative, but frankly I have no idea where this belongs, as this artist brings elements of multiple genres in my opinion. I welcome any moderator to move this thread if there's a more suitable place.

B) I did a search of the forum for "King Krule" before posting this, so I'm hoping I was thorough enough. If not, again feel free to delete this or sew me into some other thread!

ANYWAY:

This kid makes music, and I like it. He's made quite a few decent EPs, but I'm particularly fond of this:

Full album with 14 songs. Guy is from England, which will be pretty obvious when you listen to him deliver vocals - baritone voice and a distinct, no so technically perfect but better for it, delivery. On the whole he brings a lot of strong elements from Hip-Hop, Jazz, as well as other sub genres. There's not exactly any rap, but the vocal delivery is in a sort of weird limbo between singing and spoken word...

There is some videos of his rapping though. Example: CLICK HERE

Personally, I love it, and I'd like to hear more in the future. What do you guys think?

I'm more fond of his adorable little face than his music but his music's not bad either.

a) thought there was already a thread but nope b) see a

The rap is decent but I kinda think it's just an exploitation of his voice, he doesn't really have the skills yet. If that's the direction he wants then he needs to put in a lot more work.

Absolutely love 6 Feet Beneath the Moon. Kid has a future

soooooo ****ing hard for the new album, maybe even better than 6 ft and ANP2D.

the guitar melody reminds me of a Fleetwood Mac song

Probably better live than on record. His debut was basically a bad album and this one was only a little better. Needs more psychobilly and less of him.

the thing with this project is that there are so many tracks where he returns to the slower paced more atmospheric style of songs. i enjoy those too but my favourite Krule is when he shows just how ****ing raw and nasty his voice is some really wicked post-punk guitar work underneath it.

while i definitely love everything he's done so far, i feel like it's far from the best he'll do when he finds a bit of a clearer direction.

A New Place 2 Drown is great trip hop record that should appeal to fans of Tricky and The Caretaker.
