The Grunge Day

Does anyone miss Grunge and the whole North West Pacific music scene places such as Seattle and Portland and other bands from that days, such as Nirvana and others such as Heatmiser and Poison Idea.Lables such as SUB POP and all there other bands from alternative rock Grunge days and the clothes and culture.

I thought "The Grunge Day" was a name of a Grunge revival band. Why didn't you title the thread like "Grunge Back in the Day" or "The Halcyon Days of Grunge" or perhaps "Grunge, Where Did You Go?"

As far as culture goes, not really. Music, you know it.

Not really. There was a lot of other music going on at the time that I liked a lot more.

I thought, of all the people here, you would miss it the most, since you name is JGuy Grungeman.

I'm from Portland. Poison Idea, aka Kings Of Punks, were NOBODY'S grunge band. Come back when you know wtf you're talking about.

I only got into the music a couple years ago. I still wish it was bigger. It kind of makes me miss a scene I was never a part of.

Grunge Day?

I prefer The Grungies...

My favorite scene in Singles.
Chris Cornell's cameo in "Singles"

Nothing really fads away with music, somewhere there is a Post-Punk revival band, 50s Rockabilly revival bar, or 70s appreciation club. If that's what you are into then be the Grunge revivalist in your town.

Grunge is still alive and well. There are quite a few threads to this effect.

I'ma make that my first Cameron Crowe movie.

Now that you mentioned it, I had to look up Cameron Crowe. I found out he wrote the book & screenplay for Fast Times at Ridgemont High; and wrote, produced & directed Say Anything..., Single, Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, and Vanilla Sky (among others). I would recommend both Say Anything... & Singles.

I hear Vanilla Sky sucks.

So, What I really wish for is some grunge revival. I'll even take grungegaze.

Usually it takes about twenty maybe thirty years for a revival to happen. It takes a while for it go from being passé to being being cool again cause of nostalgia.

Vanilla Sky is great. One of Cameron Crowe's best movies IMO.

Well, grunge "died" *blech* in '94. We could expect a possible revival in the next decade, right? Hmm.

The Jipster 05-03-2016 01:09 PM

I had a listen of the album soundtrack Hype that covered a lot of the sound from the Pacific north west from the 80's and 90's that catch that time and place, when the Grunge and Indie era started there. As for Poison Idea not being Grunge I agree I should not put them in the grunge catalog but a great band, and The Wipers and Napalm Beach.
