The Eels are an amazing band! Beautiful Freak would have to be my favorite album. Susan's House, You're Lucky Day in Hell, Last Stop: My Town, Novocaine, and I Like Birds are the best songs; if you haven't heard any of them listen to them NOW!

I know most prefer their earlier stuff, but I really have a soft spot for Blinking Lights... I thought it was a cleverly written, often moving double album, and just as worthy as anything else in the Eels canon....

I have half of Beautiful freak and Daisies of the galaxy. So far I'm not impressed, especially with the latter...:\

I never understood what all the hype was around Novacaine--it was a rather boring. But, 'My Beloved Monster' was incredible. If you really sit down and listen to the lyrics, they are ingenous.

Electro-shock blues is also a great CD that I've been meaning to go out and buy. :\

The Eels do kinda have a subdued brilliance to them.... you gotta hear their stuff a few times before it all really sinks in sometimes...I didn't get alot of their music, I admit until the third or fourth listen....

I just got Electro-Shock Blues and love it. Anything else I should check out?

Seriously, anything by them with the exception of maybe Shootenanny! is really great stuff. Shootenanny! was just a bit too plain jane rock for my liking.

Electro-Shock Blues is my personal favourite, the second half of the album is utterly brilliant.
