i love interpol, i have seen them twice in concert

scottsy 12-28-2008 12:53 AM

What is it that makes you love them so much? Were they two really great performances?

I have the first two Interpol albums and both are fine discs in their own right. I didn't hear too many comments in support of their most recent disc, but i am sure it hd its gems dig out of the compost...

Our Love to Admire has way more gems than Antics.

scottsy 12-28-2008 08:38 PM

I loved Antics, so maybe if the most recent album had more gems in it, I'll have to look into picking it up. They're a band I can put on and enjoy pretty much every time.

sweet_nothing 08-07-2009 07:36 AM

Anyone heard Paul's solo album?

Mr Sensitive 08-07-2009 09:07 AM

Lol, I didn't know he was bringing out an album. is it any good?

I don't know that's why I'm asking. I've only heard 1 song it's pretty good, not great. From what I've read the album's sound isn't far off from Interpol's.

music vid featuring the ever lovely Emily Haines

Jsung 08-07-2009 10:56 PM

Imagine my initial confusion when i didn't realise Interpol was a band.... :\

scottsy 08-07-2009 11:03 PM

I will eventually have to get around to hearing Our Love to Admire... I loved both of the first two Interpol albums, so I figure its quite likely I'll enjoy it!

franzfergidon 08-21-2009 06:19 PM

In my opinion, the, uh Julian Plenti album doesn't have much Interpol sound on it. I think he sounds different... than his usual, sounding like Ian Curtis. I think that it sounds tons different. But I'm not sure if I like it that much. I need to listen again.

sweet_nothing 08-29-2009 03:10 PM

I just got Julian Plenti....Is Skyscraper last night and I was surprised to how good it actually is, I was expecting an Interpol sounding record but in truth the album does bare some tracks that wouldn't sound out of place on Our Love To Admire but for the most part Julian Plenti has it's own indie rock sound. That being said I think it's actually much better than Our Love to Admire and will do good holding Interpol fan's patience for their next album.

scottsy 08-29-2009 08:05 PM

Well thats actually good to hear! I heard somewhere that his solo album wasn't as good as anything Interpol had done... good to hear a positive review of it actually... I've heard a bit of negativity about it and interpol in general, actually, but I had a feeling it was all a bit better than the descriptions I was being given.

Dr_Rez 08-29-2009 08:10 PM

Anyone have a copy they could pm me?

sweet_nothing 08-29-2009 11:04 PM

I'd hook you up man but that link I used last night is dead. =\

TheFolkslave 05-11-2010 03:31 PM

I just found out that Carlos D isn't with Interpol anymore. I loved his basslines :/

scottsy 05-12-2010 04:41 PM

Awww.... yeah that actually does kinda suck, i always found the bass playing in Interpol's sound to be quite appealing... lets hope they find a replacement that's up to the task!

crow t robot 05-12-2010 09:45 PM

yeah i was bummed to hear this..guy is a damn good bassist..

duga 05-12-2010 10:35 PM

Oh son of a BITCH...that guy basically made the band. If it wasn't for his dynamic playing, I would have killed myself with the incessant down stroke repetitiveness of the guitarists. There goes a good band.

Demasco 09-16-2010 01:26 AM

Interpol Self-Titled LP

Anyone listened to it yet, and if so, what are your thoughts?

I know the reviews have been pretty mixed, but I've been enjoying it quite a bit so far. Not their best, but I'd put it on par with Our Love to Admire, which I also thought was good but not great.

downwardspiral 09-16-2010 06:57 AM

I'd put it on parr with Antics, personally. It's got some great tracks, the closer, The Undoing, is astounding.

Lights, Always Malaise, Success and Barricades also deserve a mention.

squonk 09-16-2010 02:47 PM

I'm a little behind here, I only had Antics and just today got Turn On The Bright Lights, which isn't half bad I have to say, I really like the song NYC...

sleepy jack 09-19-2010 06:22 PM

I thought it was pretty bad. Interpol is pretty much dead to me. It's safe and repetitive, there was a few nice songs, but it was monotonous and boring.

Violent & Funky 09-19-2010 08:55 PM

Where have you been?

sleepy jack 09-19-2010 08:56 PM

Behind the couch.

Violent & Funky 09-19-2010 09:26 PM

Deep, man, very deep...

sleepy jack 09-19-2010 09:29 PM

What can I say, I readed some philosophizers.

Above 02-23-2012 04:56 PM

I adore every song and every album. In fact, I think Interpol's latest is their best.

Stephen 02-27-2012 04:19 AM

I think Our Love to Admire was probably my favourite.

This is the album I've got on hand right now. I've had it a long time and I like it but not enough to inspire me to go and find anything else by them.

Someone recommended be this band whom I then felt obligated to start listening to them, and at first it was too much a combination of loud and boring, but its grown on me over time. Some of the production just doesn't appeal to me very much... the wrong kind of abrasive.

That is surprising. I've gone ahead and merged this post into the existing Interpol thread.

I like the song PDA and Obstacle 1. I find their songs very catchy.

Aveenvp 11-22-2012 06:34 PM

I honestly think their albums have just gotten better.
