Default Wednesday, the band

Background: (because there's apparently a 70's Canadian "Wednesday")

Quote:
First emerging from a winter semester recording collaboration whilst studying at University of North Carolina Asheville, Wednesday is the brainchild of vocalist and guitarist Karly Hartzman and fellow guitarist Daniel Gorham. What began as a hobbyist endeavour quickly gained steam and within a year the pair had written and released debut album Yep, Definitely, enlisting new permanent members after an impromptu full-band gig and churning out two EPs in the time since.

Just released Twin Plagues on 8.13.21. Not too bad. Nothing blowing me away but solid stuff. It's being called Shoegaze (I will never understand that term) and they're being compared to Sonic Youth. See for yourself on my favorite track, One More Last One

I’m seeing their album release show next weekend, but imo the record from 2020 and their EP Guttering with MJ Lenderman reached heights that were unnatainable with Twin Plagues though it’s a great record on it’s own, I think that Guttering and I Was Trying... are some of my favorite releases ever and I can’t get into Twin Plagues yet. Though their last alb had to click with me too.

That said, I have under No Curfew Kids covered Billboard in a bedroom pop/slowcore style and it’s on all my platforms if u wanna listen

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

It just means that they're ripping off/being influenced by Loveless

I imagine there's about 50 thousands college bands with the same exact sound operating at any given moment in the U.S.

I say this with love, but did someone piss in your cheerios recently? You weren't this negative in my memories.

Nah man! I think it's just in our interaction maybe since our music tastes are quite different and I feel obliged to say something if I've given it a try.

I do express positive opinions now and then but it is quite difficult for me to find good new music lately. I don't think I've heard a single album from this year that has really impressed me. Maybe this is just what happens when you get older, you stop liking new things and get stuck in your "golden period" music. :/

yes but, assuming we're roughly the same age, our golden period was in fact golden.

Dude, you're 3 months younger than me. We're the same age.

And yes it certainly was...

I wonder what the teenagers of today will have to hold on to...Olivia Rodrigo?

Oh come on now, that was a pretty solid record. I worry that some of them think this R&B-lite "Justin Bieber tries EDM" stuff is going to be the "oh my god that song was so good."
