Default I'm Boop.

Hello everyone. I'm tired of spending all of my time on myspace and facebook and joined this community so I could learn more about one of the greatest things in life, music. So I hope I enjoy my time here and make some friends.

Info about me, my real name is Erica. I'm 17 and a senior in highschool. I'm college-bound and I cannot wait. I'm 4'11" and I'm always wearing my streetlight manifesto hoodie. I'm not good at describing my own personality. So I'm not going to say anything about that. Except that I really appreciate genuine people.

As for music, I'll just go through a run down. (heh)

I started really liking music in highschool. My first obsession was My Chemical Romance. I loved that band, I'm not a huge fan of it now. I also liked Mindless Self Indulgence back at the beginning of last year, but since then my music tastes have drastically changed.

I started getting into classic rock, and just regular rock, and grunge! I loved Alice and Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden was an obsession, too. Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, ...whatever that was old I liked.

Then I just really liked metal. Mainly Metallica.

Then I started liking more screamo and thrash metal, Cannibal Corpse, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, and just more local bands. (Anyone ever heard of The Grieving Process? They toured in Euro so not exactly local)

Then after that I moved on to more alternative and indie. I LOVED Tegan and Sara for quite a long time. I also enjoyed A Wilhelm Scream very much (I was supposed to see them in Rochester last week. Alas I did not.) Actually, I love that band, would rank it as one of my all time favorites.

Some other bands I forgot to mention loving are The Used, The Bloodhound Gang, Glassjaw, Copeland, Against Me!, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Chiodos, Coheed, The Cure, Daft Punk, Danzig, Deftones, Dethklok,Despised Icon, The Doors, The Forecast, From Autum to Ashes, Gallows, Gorillaz, Guns n Roses, Gwar, HORSE the band, Imogen Heap, Iron Maiden, Journey, Judas Priest, King Diamond, Madina Lake, Megadeth, The Misfits, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G (Seriously.), The Offspring,Opeth, Pantera, Paramore, Queen, Slayer, Taking Back Sunday, Tenacious D, Thrice, Three inches of Blood, Tool, White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, 30 Seconds to Mars. Just scrolling through my ipod list these artists are the ones I know more about, but theres a ton of music in my iPod from a lot of other bands too that I did not put because I'm just not that into them...yet.

Now I'd wrap it up but before that I have to talk about my current obsession, SKA.

It started with LOVING Streetlight Manifesto. They are the only band I've ever gone to a concert for. And I was going to see them with Reel Big Fish but i did not. I was also going to see them with A Wilhelm Scream but did not. This must mean that I MUST see them at Warped Tour, or die.

This has to be my all time favorite band, I never memorized the lyrics to every song to a single band before, (it wasnt that hard with only 3 albums and their memorable lines.) Nor have I put so much effort into researching an artist. Their history, between Gimp, One Cool Guy, Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, and Catch 22, is pretty amazing. That's why I love them. (That and they have amazing music.)

Since I've gotten to listen to other ska bands, mainly, Reel Big Fish and Big D and the Kids table in the ska punk/core section. But I've also gotten into The Skatalites, The Toasters, The Specials, The Mad Caddies, Awful Waffle, Bad Manners, Operation Ivy, The Aquabats, Bomb The Music Industry!, Those Arrogant Sons of Bitches, and much more.

Something I'd like to do is increase my music knowledge on this forum, mainly in the Ska genre. I'd love to know more about the first wave and two tone, and actually, a lot of the third wave as I do not listen to a lot of The Mighty Might Bosstones yet or Less Than Jake, or some others. Oh. And I love to Skank.

I'd also just like to listen to some really good music. My friend sends me things all the time, a wide variety actually. I also use pandora.com to get some variety but I never remember the bands. =(

There's a lot more music that I did not mention. I am also a huge Guitar Hero player so some of my random "Oh yeah, I know this band!" Stems from music I've discovered through it. I'm not ashamed. :P

I'd love to learn to play guitar. I'd love to learn to sing. Mostly so I can play the great Tegan and Sara songs I love.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my exploration of my music history and my hopes for the future. =) Nice to meet you!

Currently Listening to : Blink 182, since I missed the bandwagon when they got popular and the news of them reuniting made me want to see what they were all about

Welcome. That's quite the effort for an intro so it deserved a welcome. A few decent bands in there... Be happy you missed that Blink bandwagon though. You missed nothing of value.

Thanks, nice meeting you two too. Heh.

I tend to make long elaborate posts. It happens when you used to frequent a sims forum, then a sims writing forum, then a sims writing roleplay forum. Ah, its been a while since I've been a member to a forum.

Sims roleplay? That sounds like fake real life...

hahahaha YES. Exactly. It was so much fun, its how I lived for the first two years of my highschool life. Vicariously, of course.

Real life is cool too but sometimes its good to have a fake one. Except when they become indistinguishable.

Welcome to musicbanter!

You seem to be somewhat explorative, so I'm sure you'll discover a lot of music on MB. Try out the journals and the more lengthy album review threads.

Ska eh? We should get on famously then. Maybe I will be able to introduce you to some Reggae along the line. Welcome aboard.
