I'm also a Porcupine Tree fan, what do you like about them? If it's the time signatures like me, you might be interested in listening to some math rock.
My taste in music is all over the place, but one thing that I'm constant in is my dislike for rap and very little rnb. I like anything besides that really and sometimes just get hooked on one band at a time for ages. I don't think I've ever heard of Math Rock? I might know some bands and didn't realise they were of that genre? :-S

With Porcupine Tree you're right about the time signatures... I really love the fact that they can pull out an intricate complex song but aren't afraid to play a more simple song at the same time. With a few Prog. bands I sometimes find they try and over-complicate to really drive home that they're different. Porcupine Tree are different but they don't get lost in the ways these other bands do, they have the ability to produce a straight forward minimalist piece that still sounds amazing.

Welcome, welcome. I see ElephantSack already gave you the run-around on Opeth. Forget everything he told you. Do you really want to trust a man with one arm?

If you were any sort of smarts, you'd check out Still Life first. But hey, that's just me.

I'm looking for it tomorrow
...and Blackwater Park lol
(ElephantSack has one arm? For real?)

I normally go out of my way to collect every album by an artist I like. So yeah, I've got St. Anger when it comes to Metallica unfortunately. I just like collecting I guess.
