Default Hey there, never been here before...

Hi, my names Russ and I'm from Australia.

Some of my favourite bands are Tool, Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree but I change what I listen to all the time. Right now I've been really into Opeth and Paradise Lost...

My album collection is massive but I like finding new stuff all the time. The only music I'm not into is Rap and very little RnB. So yeah...

Hope to get to know a few like-minded people and have fun talking about my favourite obsession - MUSIC hahaha

Right on, son. Welcome to the not-so-magical, or mystical world of MB. Tool, Opeth and Porcupine Tree are some of my favorites as well. I think you'll do just fine here.

Thanks, I don't know much about Opeth but I was blown away when I first started listening to them. It would be great to know where to go from now from the albums that I own... I've only got Watershed and Deliverance? (I like Deliverance more right now)

Deliverance is the shit. I would suggest Blackwater Park and Still Life for the next exploratory glances. If you still want to go further back into their discography, there's plenty more.

I'm guessing you haven't checked out their mellow album, Damnation? Very different, but really good song writing.

A lot of people in the states got really into Ghost Reveries, which has some really good songs, but personally, I think they hit a kind of crescendo with Blackwater Park and Deliverance. Not to say that Watershed isn't a great album.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely check out the Blackwater Park album. I found them hard to get into but once I really sat down and listened I was amazed by how good it is (Deliverance) ...just wow. I'd like to hear the mellow Damnation album, that would be interesting.

Welcome, I'm sure you'll come across many bands you'll learn to love in your time here.
I'm also a Porcupine Tree fan, what do you like about them? If it's the time signatures like me, you might be interested in listening to some math rock.
