It's now time to introduce myself

I'm actually not a new member. I joined this forum in April, but I've just been reading posts until recently. I wanted to see if I liked using this forum, and since I realized that I do, it is time to introduce myself. My name is Bojan (pronounces like Boyan). I am from Serbia. I currently study Arabic language and literature, blah, blah, blah... I don't think you actually care about that, after all, this is a music forum, so let's get to music: I like a lot of music, mostly metal and some rock, and here are some of my favorite bands/artists:

-Evanescence
-Burzum
-Emperor
-My Dying Bride
-Crematory
-Enslaved
-Deathstars
-Slipknot
-Within Temptation
-System Of A Down
-Evocation
-Obscura
-Old Man's Child
-Mortiis
-Cradle Of Filth
-Pain
-Korn
-We Are The Fallen
-Paradise Lost
-Detroit Metal City
-Bathory
-Nightwish (old)
-Marilyn Manson
-Woods Of Desolation
-Basarab
-Xasthur

I also have a band of my own, but we'll leave that for some other ocassion.

The only band I hate is TOKIO HOTEL. They Suck!

I also dislike most of the British rock bands, but I see that most of the forum users like them. I hope that isn't a problem.

Nice to meet you all
Scissorman

You lost me at Evanescence, but welcome anyway!

Welcome to the MB community Scissorman. Glad you like it here. :)

NumberNineDream 01-16-2010 03:00 PM

Weirdly enough, you have the taste of a typical Arabic teenager/20 year old. Well welcome to MB, enjoy your stay!

lol I myself dislike most of the Evanescence fans, that's why I'm not a member of any of their forums but, hey, a man can't be perfect :)

Out of all the music forums I like this one the best:)

I'm glad you like it, people usually say that it reminds them of hairdresser :D

Dieselboy 01-16-2010 05:54 PM

I've always had a soft spot for Evanescence...they're not so bad. ><

I know many people claim to hate them now, but I have a hunch a lot of people who say that enjoyed the sh*t outta their first cd...maybe even owned it. I was actually thinking of putting My Immortal on the guilty pleasures comp, but have since thought of something so much better.

Anyways, welcome. :)

CanwllCorfe 01-16-2010 06:03 PM

Great taste! I'm a huge black metal fan

Pozdrav Bojane, dobrodošao na forum. Muzički su nam ukusi poprilično različiti al uvijek mi je drago vidjet nekog iz ovih krajeva tu, pogotovo kad tako dobro priča engleski.;)

duga 01-16-2010 06:16 PM

what he said.

NumberNineDream 01-16-2010 06:18 PM

bah, I'll just start talking Arabic with the guy then...

adidasss 01-16-2010 06:19 PM

I'm sure he'd appreciate it...;)

Scissorman 01-16-2010 06:24 PM

Ima li ljudi sa Balkana na ovom forumu uopšte? :D Muzika ne čini čoveka, makar ja tako smatram tako da različitost u ukusima i nije neki problem :)

يمكننا ان نتحدث العربية

:D

adidasss 01-16-2010 06:30 PM

Ima nas, sad eto dvojica...:D

Anyhoo, cool beans, stick around and all that jazz....;)

Scissorman 01-16-2010 06:45 PM

lol

NumberNineDream 01-16-2010 07:48 PM

Innaka tatahadath bil nahawiyy, I recall.

Sadly enough, it's a dead language :/

Scissorman 01-16-2010 07:54 PM

that's why I'm also learning Syrian colloquial :) although, I must admit, I don't know much of Syrian...

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 08:30 AM

^ Well that'll make you understand Lebanese, Jordanian and Palestinian dialects (and Syrian of course), there's some differences, but mainly the same words.
The others need some translation some times.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 09:07 AM

I know, that's why chose Syrian. In my college we can choose between Syrian (the teacher is from Jordan), Moroccan (the teacher is from Morocco) and Iraqi (the teacher, of course is from Iraq). Next year there will be Egyptian available.I am supposed to travel to Syria with some friends this summer to learn more of the dialect. We were also going to visit Lebanon, but there is one girl from Lebanon who studies with me and she says that Beirut is one of the most expensive cities on the planet, so we canceled the visit.

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 09:16 AM

lol that's a lie, it's the cheapest place. Down town is maybe expensive, but it's an ugly place to visit, all full with people from Saoudi Arabia.
I get through the week with 10$, not eating at home, and going out twice a week. It's expensive for people living here, with the phone bill and electricity bill etc... but not to go out at night or in the afternoons.

They say Syria is cheaper, but the dialect there really annoys me. I got a friend that's half-syrian he says there's some great places to get drunk on the beach, maybe we'll go on some road trip someday. But if all the Syrians are coming here, I'll say it means something.

FETCHER. 01-17-2010 09:21 AM

Welcome Scissorman! :)

Scissorman 01-17-2010 09:22 AM

people who have been in Beirut say that it has wonderful nightlife. I don't really care about the nightlife, but my friends do, so maybe we will visit it after all :) I would just like to learn enough of the language to find a job without having to finish another college :D

I think you'll easily find a job. It's rare to see anyone studying Arabic literature even in the Arabic countries.
Like all the teachers teach in 3 places minimum... because there's no many others willing to.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 09:40 AM

but in Serbia every year 60 people start studying Arabic and around 20 finish it... I'd say it's a pretty tough competition. I hope I'll manage somehow, I don't have the nerve to finish another college...

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 09:45 AM

I didn't know that, but you seem on the right track. If you need anything, I still remember the ugly Grammar rules we studied for 15 years in school.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 09:53 AM

the funny thing is that all the Arabic teachers in my college don't know the grammar well :D

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 10:00 AM

^It is the toughest concept I've ever seen, even after learning it for 15 years, only 3 out of my 18 class were able to pass. I was one of them :D
I got a 62/90 on my Arabic official exam, the best grade nationally being 70/90. What's funny is, my Arabic teacher in school used to fail me at each time, having a 36/90 average. The first short movie I then did in Uni, was about her husband with a multiple personality disorder killing her... very cathartic.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 10:10 AM

lol that's the kind of movie I'd make for my Iraqi teacher :D Only it would have to be his wife killing him

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 10:12 AM

^ I can help you with that too :p:

Scissorman 01-17-2010 10:31 AM

or better yet the movie about him being killed by one of the blond students that he keeps hitting on :D

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 10:39 AM

^ Oh I got one of those in Uni, such a hetero-phobes. If a girl talk to him, he doesn't answer and goes to one of the boys and give them gifts. He makes me sick, literally.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 10:57 AM

:yikes: is that even allowed?

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 11:00 AM

He's got a lot of connections, and there's not many obstacles between the students and the teachers where I am. They're cool to hang out with, but that one must be locked somewhere.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 11:08 AM

in Serbia at the University of law relationships between professors and students are allowed

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 11:14 AM

Like all our teachers here married their student... seems like a trend. No singles left though lol.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 11:17 AM

 seems it's getting more and more popular in the world. I wonder what's next

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 11:30 AM

I've got no problem with it, as it's totally normal, specially when the teacher is a male.

Scissorman 01-17-2010 11:38 AM

well, it is ok to a certain point, but don't you think that the students who are in relationships with professors will have protection?

NumberNineDream 01-17-2010 11:40 AM

They usually become in a relationship after the students graduate, but we're already friends with some of them from the first year.
