Besides, when I'm in the shoutbox and bring up a song that's catchy, a million people attack me and say it doesn't matter if it's catchy.

That's kind of my point.

If a song sucks, it sucks. Catchiness can only do so much to save that. However, catchiness + something original/interesting/meaningful makes for a good pop song.
