Hello from Seattle!

Hello everyone, I have been lurking here for a while and decided to join up.

Music is truly a passion of mine, ranging from classical to rock, to hip hop, to techno/electronic; basically anything that catches my fancy. Hope to learn and expand my musical tastes! Cheers all.

At the very moment, I am listening to a LOT of.....

Bonobo, Guts Le Bienheureux, Ratatat, Blockhead, Mr Scruff, Kidkanevil, Doctor Stereo, Robot Koch, Tommy Guerrero, and LOTS of old vinyl!

P.S. Vinyl can and will never be replaced by digital or bits ever.

P.S.S That said, I listen to digital formats too :P

Have already been turned onto some great music from some of the "What are you listening to" type threads (still have about 500 pages worth of reading to do just on that thread alone haha)"

Hello from Seattle! Blockhead is the business. Still undecided about Robot Koch - I checked out the second album and I'm just not sure if I like it or not. I will have to play it a few more times. I don't listen to any of the others you mentioned but based on them, we probably have a good bit in common.

To be honest, i only own "Deathstar Droid" by Robot Koch. At first I only liked 2-3 songs on the album, but as I made myself listen to it more I have found I really enjoy the whole work as a cohesive piece. I have only heard some of the new songs from the newer album.

Did you go to the Bonobo show last night? It was "ok". I have been to all 3 shows in Seattle, and this one was maybe the second best. He now has 3 frigging people on horns, trombone, B flat trumpet, and a flute/sax (depending on song). I don't know if I like that, as it seems to sound a bit more "dirty", the sound quality last night was "meh" at best.

I see you are from Seattle too : - ) . You have a favorite record hunting shop you frequent? I have been able to get luck at some thrift shops, but Bop Street is also somewhere I seem to get lost in quite often.

I've known of Bonobo for quite some time but have never bothered to listen to his stuff. So nope, didn't go to the show.

I suspect you are talking about vinyl, which I don't buy. If I started I would get addicted and go into debt, like I did with CDs.

One massive collection is enough for me right now. But I like to visit Easy Street in Queen Anne, Everyday Music and Sonic Boom in Capitol Hill. I'll stop in the Ballard Sonic Boom if I'm in the area. Used to go to the Fremont one but it unfortunately closed down a few years ago.
