As for Jazz... well, that's been more of a slow-burning love, fostered out of my very first boyfriend being a jazz drummer. Welcome by the way. You mentioned some great bands both in the rock and the jazz 'section'.
You may want to try out Kenny Dorham's "Quiet Kenny". Underrated :)
