You can try out Opeth but I don't think that band is a good transition band to throw someone into if they are just getting started with metal

The album Morningrise is the perfect trasition into metal, great vocals, without growls.

But seriously, tell that guy to stop.

I just really haven't found much 'newer' metal I like. Been listening to alot of Pantera and Metallica. Any suggestions would be great! I did check out Opeth. Will look into the Morningrise album.

More suggestions would be great though!
