Default Hello

Hello,

I typed 'music forum' into google, and this was the first that I could see that had a lot of active members. It's a good indication that the community is doing something right!

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland, and love a variety of music.

When I was growing up, I listened to pop music and whatever rubbish was playing on the radio/TV because I never really knew any better. The only thing I remember liking a lot was my grandad's tape single of Simon & Garfunkle's Cecilia, which had Bridge over Troubled Waters on it as well.

I lost interest in any kind of music for a few years and eventually started listening to a bit of rock, which eventually led me into 'extreme metal' (death, black, doom) but started to get a bit bored of that after a couple of years and tend not to revisit any sort of metal really (other than the first couple of Iron Maiden albums).

I was watching TV one night while bored and stumbled upon 'No Direction Home', the excellent documentary on Bob Dylan. I gave it a try as I remember an English teacher I liked had a picture of Bob on the wall. Watching that made my head-spin, it totally re-wrote what I thought I enjoyed about music! Led me into a lot more 'classic' music like Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, The Beatles and so on.

Through varying reviews, recommendations and so on I got into Pink Floyd, which led into King Crimson, Yes, Can, Neu!, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mahavishnu Orchestra and eventually stuff like Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits etc.

So there you have a little bit about how I ended up here. I love everything from Punk to the Blues via Psychedelic Rock and Indian Classical Music and a million other things inbetween.

Look forward to having a look around!
