Talking Hello! :)

Hey, I literally just joined today after looking for a new place to meet music fans. In terms of my music taste, I tend to 'dabble' in a handful of genres, but wouldn't consider myself an 'expert' in any! I generally tend to go for rock, metal & alternative, but I've recently gotten into industrial & electronica music - I'm kind of newbie in that area though, so I can't say I know my stuff too well!

I'm hoping this place will give me a chance to get to know more about the genres I like & discover new bands/artists as I'm always on the hunt for new listening material!

Thanks everyone for your replies - very welcoming!

As for favourite artists - The Cure, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, HIM, Nine Inch Nails & Japan are probably top of the list, although I could go on forever!

I've been into NIN for a few years now, but only recently delved further into industrial - I have come across Skinny Puppy & so far I like what I hear!

[QUOTE=emilyellen;1203257]Japan QUOTE]
David Sylvian's 'secrets of the beehives' is mandatory. And if you like that ambient type of pop, check out also Talk Talk's last 2 albums and The Blue Nile's 'Hats'.

ANd as you like Depeche mode, you might like other synth pop artists of their heydays, Soft Cell, Visage, Ultravox, Propaganda, OMD, The Human League.

I love David Sylvian - such a beautiful voice! Soft Cell & Human League have also been gracing my music collection for a while

Will definitely check out your other recommendations, you seem to know your stuff! Thanks!

Emily,

Marc Almond (ex-Soft Cell) recorded a collection of very fine songs (ambient folk/pop/cabaret) with Michael Cashmore (Current 93). The album is called 'feasting with panthers' and is highly recommendable. Please feel free to PM me if you want some mp3s.
