Music is an Art

Hello everyone. My name is Dylan and I've been playing guitar since 2009. I see music as the truest art form, because it's more than just looking at a painting. You can feel music, physically and emotionally, you can hear it, and you can see it. It conveys so much more than a painting ever could and it's quite a powerful. I like to think I have a wide taste in music, but at the same time, I can be very picky.

I believe there are good artists in every genre if you look hard enough, but as a generalization, I'm not much one for country, hip-hop, pop, or rap. Mostly because the majority of the crap you hear is a butchering of the genre. I've heard some pretty good songs in all of those genres, however.

My favorite genres of music are rock, a lot of alternative stuff, metal, dubstep, and electro swing. My favorite artists are Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Cubism, Substep Infrabass, Bitter:Sweet, Parov Stelar, and Caravan Palace.

I look forward to becoming a part of the community here on Music Banter.

Because music is an art, when you look at a painting or a sculpture, you should hear sound and melody just as you should see shape and color when listening to music. They are inextricably linked.

But seriously though, welcome and I hope to see you around the forums somewhere.

Also, people can emotionally feel paintings, maybe you can't because you aren't as in touch with that form of art as you are with music but it does have the power to do everything you said about music.
