Smile Hey folks

Hello music lovers,

I am new to the Music Banter community. I have been a passionate music fan and musician most of my life. Up until 10 years old, I was almost exclusively devoted to classical music, as that's what was played in my home. A friend came over one day with the Beatles Twist and Shout EP (years after the fact, I should add) and I had the epiphany that THIS was what I needed to listen to.

My musical tastes are varied, but mainly I love power pop (rocky stuff wirh strong melodies and harmonies), garage rock (think the Nuggets box set and its offshoots), alt country, bebop jazz, and in particular, I have a passion for acapella - so long as it's not over produced.

That's a basic intro. More posts to come.

Cheers,
Maurice.

I'm always happy to welcome another fan of garage rock into the fold!

Other than The Beatles, are there any bands that you're fond of?

Thanks folks.

Oriphel, besides my Beatles obsession, I am nuts for Big Star, Ben Folds 5, Matthew Sweet, Weddings Parties Anything, Flying Burrito Brothers, The Knack, Fleet Foxes, Steeleye Span, Richard Thompson, Hoodoo Gurus, The Zombies, 13th Floor Elevators......ummmm....and a truckload of others, but that gives you a rough idea where I'm coming from.

The Flying Burrito Brothers are one of my favorite bands to recommend to people, because they always hear the name and go .
