Thanks for the glance, hope it was worth it

So i just found this gem of a website today, the people here seem pretty cool and I want to jump into the community I guess.

When it comes to music, I can't help but find myself attracted to cheap guitars and really pounding drum sets, thats all I need really. But whoevers reading this, thanks for the thought.

I really like talking about... life. The universe, how it all works, how it all fits together. Completely non music related I know, just looking for conversations with like minded people.

Mr. Charlie 10-15-2015 02:13 PM

Not sure anyone who uses forums is cool myself but, ahh, what do I know. Welcome. :)

RebelliousTaco 10-15-2015 02:37 PM

Depends on your definition of "cool." I've always had a taste for weirder people myself. Thanks for the welcome, glad to be here.

Black Francis 10-15-2015 03:04 PM

Welcome to MB. :)

What kinda bands do you like?

Here recently I've been deep into the white stripes. And the punk and blues that comes related to them. Black Lips, Billy Childish, Captain Beefheart, Son House.

Although I can get into some good folk bands, like Old Crow Medicine Show and Railroad Earth. Metal is what got me into music as a kid. Reggae and Ska have been around me, and I liked it all, especially this sweet Dub version of Dark Side of the Moon, but i just can't name any bands. But really, I like anything that isn't just over produced out of the limits of the artists themselves. That is the true grit of music, what the artist puts into it. Not the catchy hook drowned in Auto-Tune and stuffed with gimmicks.

Trollheart 10-15-2015 05:09 PM

Welcome. You seem strange. You'll fit right in here. :)

So... no Ke$ha? :(

Apollonia 10-15-2015 08:52 PM

 Ke$ha rules.

The Batlord 10-15-2015 08:56 PM

And my point to Trollheart is proven once again: nobody likes Dream Theater, but everyone loves Ke$ha.

Apollonia 10-15-2015 08:58 PM

Anyone who chooses Dream Theatre over Ke$ha clearly hates themselves/has something to prove(mostly to themselves or losers on the internet).

RebelliousTaco 10-15-2015 09:09 PM

Screw them both, T Pain has this on lock down Yall

Apollonia 10-15-2015 09:10 PM

Also acceptable. T Pain seems like a pretty cool dude in general actually.

RebelliousTaco 10-15-2015 10:18 PM

Ride that boat T Pain. RIDE IT HARD

*salute*

Lucem Ferre 10-15-2015 10:40 PM

I'd take Dream Theater over Ke$ha...

Have you listened to Dream Theater? You'd take this...

... over this...

I think your braids are cutting off the circulation to your brain.

Frownland 10-15-2015 10:59 PM

Both Dream Theater and Ke$ha make dull music, ftr.

The Batlord 10-15-2015 11:06 PM

I'd rather listen to both of them than Wolves in Sheepskin.

Lucem Ferre 10-15-2015 11:09 PM

The videos you posted just strengthened my opinion.

I'd rather listen to Dream Theater than Wolves In Sheepskin and their Begotten music whom I'd rather listen to over Ke$ha.

So for me it's

Dream Theater>Wolves In Sheepskin>Ke$ha in ****ty opinion math.

Frownland 10-15-2015 11:15 PM

I'm pretty hot on Queens of Shiva these days, actually.

Horrorcore fan refuses to admit liking Ke$ha. Par for course.

I can't admit to not liking Ke$ha because I just don't like Ke$ha. Never even heard her music before today, and now that I did I'm very curious as to how she appeals to you in any way. I can see the bratty rich girls that try to act like ghetto hood rights liking Ke$ha, but can't see why you like her.

I actually like the Starving Circle stuff. Push that instead.

So, you said this before even having listened to her...

So, basically, the fact that she's a pop artist, or a radio artist, or whatever criteria you seem to have for dismissing artists who you've never listened to, means that you don't even have to listen to them not to like them?

That's seriously idiotic.

1.) Her music is catchy.

2.) I don't need to relate to an artist just to like them.

3.) Her music is catchy.

4.) Her schtick amuses me, but also projects a consistent, unique, and charismatic persona that makes her stand out.

5.) Her music is ****ing catchy.

Lucem Ferre 10-16-2015 12:18 AM

No, that is not true at all.

I hadn't heard either artists before and I listened to one song by Dream Theater, can't remember the song, and I listened to Crazy Kids by Ke$ha before giving my opinion. I'm on the internet, Batlord, I can research things at a moments notice before adding input.

Edit: I also wouldn't use 'unique' to describe her. She seems like a cross between Kreayshawn and Lady Gaga to me.

Give it time. Everyone falls prey to Ke$ha eventually. And I still love that my persistence has gotten everyone on this site including the dollar sign in her name rather than just an "s". Even Youtube isn't as consistent as Music Banter now.

Lucem Ferre 10-16-2015 12:37 AM

I'm just trying to spell her name right.

Apollonia 10-16-2015 12:41 AM

Ke$ha, it's not hard, Coolio.

That's what you'd like to think. It's really my subliminal mind control rewiring your brain to the only way... the Ke$ha Way.

If I suddenly have the urge to put on booty shorts while I seductively fellecio a sucker in an attempt to lure a black man into the back of my car so he can screw me I'm blaming you.
