To start a group, judging by the sttistics of users who have, I assume I need to make 1,000 posts? At the pace I'm going, that should take about 5 months, so that's cool. Givesme a lot of time to know the board.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case.
Groups aren't particularly popular or active nowadays anyway.
