Hallo due to not being really able to to dive into the forums due to 15 post limit on link (spambots and advertisers ruin it all) I decided may as well start off with the intro thread.

So I am Akyho a duder who love electric noises that may actually form something other people call music....in a pub we used to go to we stumbled upon an underground gig of an electronic band and while I went "OH WOW THIS IS AWESOME!" my girlfriend held her ears going "AH WHAT THE HELL!" ...we had to leave before my girlfriend started to bleed from her ears.

So while my firm plant is in Synth,New wave,Electronic and such the likes for genre's. Punk,Ska,Reggae,Rock and over all a genuinely good tune that hits my ears is all for listening.

The reason I am hear is because well.....I end up never having anyone to talk to about music. My late father was the most I could yet not entirely as we may merge on many stuff the stuff I really wanted to talk about was the music we diverged the most and so I am hear to plug a many long year hole to feed my craving with enthusiasm throw music at people and have new music thrown at me in hopes of finding if not those mind blowing sounds or even a new fave band to love.

I am all ears for suggestions and tunes!

I think I need to go with my default answer on favourite Artist and that is DEVO.

I can and DO listen to EVERYTHING of theirs, I have not one song I do not like of DEVO hell I really unironicly like their universaly worst album which is Smooth Noodle Maps.

However they brought it back on Something for Everybody and the side album of cut material Something Else for Everybody which I actually prefer more.

When I learned Devo had a new album coming I was excited after their 20 year hiatus, Something for Everybody came out and I live in Scotland which is not the most connected place for niche stuff.

So I wanted the Devo album I came out that day and I thought "Check HMV???" I checked thinking I wouldn't see it..BOOM right there sealed plastic. BOUGHT! I was on my lunch break lols. I back to work threw my jacket behind the counter (I couldn't wait) threw out the CD in the small radio in the Charity shop I worked in put Devo on and played it. I did not care about the customers I WAS LISTENING TO DEVO GODDAMMIT!

THE CD WAS BEST OF SUSAN MCANN! THREE YEARS WITH HER!!!

No complaints and my Manager heard it and went "huh what's that.....hmmm" shrugged and wondered off.

I trained a new girl in the store all the while jamming to the new musical DEVO sounds.

I also wore Devo badges in college which had random people shout across the street either "ARE WE NOT MEN!?" which I had to shout back "WE ARE DEVO!" or "SPUD!"

I saw you liked Madness and other New Wave in another thread. Cool, that's really good stuff. I feel like you would dig more ska and post-punk if you tried getting into that if it's musical boundaries you want.

Following the theme of Devo is their prodigy from Japan. Polysics their eccentric Japanese styling coupled with their obvious influences of Devo and the Japanese band P-Model. I can enjoy P-Model.

As it is I was a fan of Polysics when I was 12 onwards and then go into Devo when I was 17 which considering they overtook Polysics should say how much of an impact Devo made on me.

A long time standing fave band is Jack of Jill sadly missed their recent...once...in...a...life...time...reunion show.....but they still freaking rock.
Found them randomly typing stuff into Peer to Peer download clients with one labled "My cat" and ever since then....oh also the file was label Lords of Acid.

Which I am also a good fan of Paraga Khans work more so stuff he did with Lords of Acid.

There is also the never ending love for Dresden Dolls with Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione, their form Punk Cabaret is just so good, in the pub with friends, my good friend Gill she jumped up asked her husband for some coins for the juke box (well it was a video music box projector thing.) and what I was treated too on her return was the strange erie piano playing until it just explodes into wonderful hard melody. I look around to find two people dressed and painted as mimes...I was totally in from that point.

Its actually more of a surprise that a random video jukebox in Scotland had Dresden Dolls on it. So followed them until they broke up. Then heard Amanda Palmer starting off her debut, found her on the music on demand of my TV cable provider. So I went ok lets check out "Leeds United" and boom....it was awesome. So was her entire album "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" so I was on-board, heard her perform Radio Heads "Paranoid Android" on a ukulele....her vocals just was amazing with that.

Role around Kickstarter.....Amanda Palmer has it little Kickstarter video when it was still new hearing he music in that little video I HAD to buy it, I was in the first thousand and was just happy to get a full CD of this new album. Then it exploded and over a million taken in and huge news cover over her that was cool and she got married to the author Neil Geilman. He does a fantastic rendition of Eddie Noack's - Psycho.

Also when I was 18 a friend got me into a great rock band from Newcastle called The Wild hearts enjoyed them ever since even went to a show of theirs.

Same time I got into Bella Fleck and the Flecktones as well a Victor Wooten, those are big for me.

Going back to Amanda Palmer a bit, she played a cover of Momus- I want you but I dont need you. Which at the time I found this the lyrics struck a cord with me and i found Momus and his original and well that guys in freaking crazy and yet also a musical genuine...sorry he is a Moist intellectual of the music industry.

Momus who is a fellow Scot and his real name Nicholas Currie is the cousin to Justin Currie the lead singer of the Scottish band Del Amitri....which when I took Media and Communications for college I was taught by Andy...Andy of Del Amitri the accordionist and keyboardist. Which when I was back at college recently people were kinda surprised to see their Radio and sound production lecturer with their head on a babys body for the music video "Roll to me"

At the same time I found Momus i also found the even weirder yet just as wonderful Klaus Nomi and goodness the background to that guy and more so his downfall before even the aids took him.

Of course there is MANY more however these are like the top influences on me.

I utterly love Ska, You have your madness (which actually tends to not be the most Ska like band.) Specials got to have them, Selecter I adore Selector, Beat they do some great stuff Mirror in the bathroom is always in my head ha! If its good enough beat to Skank to I will skank to easier if its two tone ska. Cant beat a good old fashioned moon stomp aswell.

Working in my old charity shop a similar story to how I discovered/Rediscovered Space. I found a wonderful album filled with Third wave American ska weirdly its starts off with an ultra funky jazz track. The album is called "hey Brotha....can you spare some ska?!"

Then you get me into my enjoyment for Reel big fish which as stuck with me for years followed with Japanese ska, namely the great ska band Unscandal.

I am going to throw out another sort of big influence on me, the dirty white old man reggae singer Judge Dread, which I was lucky enough to randomly find a CD of his best hits in a shop this time last year.

As for post punk I do enjoy that and do need to delve deeper into it yet I am also sort of trying to educate myself in punk a bit more as I hung around with punks in college and it rubbed off on me, I was cameraman/roadie/leech for my friends punk band Myra Hindley and the Babysitters.
I loved their music despite being their friend pity they went quiet some years ago.

However one proper punk band I do enjoy is also a top fave of my friends who had the band, Pork Dukes which sadly is a rarer and harder to find band yet great music to them.

PS THOMAS DOLBY! How could I forget about him? I love all his stuff even Howard the Duck.

You have great taste! You'd really get along with my friend Ryan but he's not usually active on here.

He actually gave me a big list of post-punk bands on the punk forum here that I haven't fully looked into yet. As for me, I'm huge on punk and some other stuff so keep in touch if you ever need anything of that sort.
