i've heard it described as/called a "banjitar" which i think is a pretty cool word. but the timbre and sound character are most certainly banjo. i don't know anything about banjos other than the sound they make has tons of attack and very little sustain... and i really like that. someone said earlier in this thread they'd heard that playing a 6-string banjo is the cheater's approach, to which i reply that to pick up a musical instrument and firstly consider the stigma attached to it is submitting to a very linear and limited perspective, effectively forgetting about one's own personal potential. music can come out of a brick, and if i didn't know what it was when i found it, i would still smile when i applied the elements of music to my relationship with that brick
on another note, i sadly had to pawn that banjo due to job loss and needing to feed a great dane named Numa-Pi. Last edited by P A N; 04-13-2010 at 07:49 PM. Reason: G(r)AMMA |

just to add 2 cents to the banjo thing, the reason they have such a unique attack and tone is due to the traditional body being a closer relative to the snare drum than a classical guitar. regardless of the amount of strings if it's got a body made of a resonator chamber and a skin on top i think it's safer to call it a banjo than a guitar. |

Here are some new pictures of me from the weekend before last.
Here I am at the steps of my private beach. Here I am getting away in my speed boat. Here I am attempting to flee the paparazzi. Here one of the paparazzi got me just after I got out of my Benzo. I put on my jacket before I punched him in the face.

The first two pics were taken on Whidbey Island (which sits somewhere between Seattle and the San Juan Islands), and the 3rd is from San Juan Island two days later. It was pretty damn cold that day.
