I really can't understand the "confederate pride" that circulates in the south. What, are they proud to have fought against the freedom of African slaves?

I'm sure it was a re-enactment of the civil war, they're pretty popular down south.

Popular all over actually.

It's not that. It's one of those grudge things.

Kind of like "We were right, dammit." They still believe so.

It wasn't JUST the slavery thing though, a few of the states were pissed that the government had favored the North. They felt like they were getting the ****end of the stick. That being, Texas mentioned slavery 22 times in their declaration of secession.

The north got widespread support in England during the civil war.
With the Scots supporting the south.
The following wiki article may explain why;

"The first United States census in 1790 revealed a well defined ethnic division between the Northern and Southern states. In New England 75 percent of the people were Anglo-Saxons in origin, while Celts outnumbered Anglo-Saxons in the South two to one."[5] "A decade before the American Civil War the South - from Virginia to Texas was probably three-quarters Celtic."

It would also explain the inevitable outcome too. :D

Jealous.
I did have the pleasure of meeting Slug, though.

Reenactment, battle cries in general or the rebel yell in particular? Honestly, they sound very gay. It doesn't seem to be a relevant example of battle cry in World History. And to date, nobody's been equal to the Catalan Company of the East (Almogavars) in that aspect.
