I was referring to the Rebel Yell in particular. Especially the one in the first video at 2.53. Given by a 90 year old civil war veteran recorded in 1935 btw.
Didn't sound very gay to me!
Just as a matter of interest to you. There's evidence that the Rebel Yell has Celtic origins and was brought to the south by Scottish colonists.

Well, it's something subjetive. Probably at that time the effects on the enemy (or any person in the 19th century) were different. Another life, another mentality, etc.

Yep. The Celts were famous for their deafening yells. Even Keira Knightley could give you a fright screaming like this. Roman historians said Celtiberians (Celts + Iberians) cried out like animals, and in the long run the legionaries were totally stressed.

Generally British bars are cool. The cornerstone of our civilisation. Even the rough bars with sawdust on the floor have character lol

Where are you there, Jackhammer? I can't decide if it's the more trendy bar that I don't tend to enjoy very much or if it's just the kind of place to go and chill and have a couple of pints earlier on in the day or night. Is it a Wetherspoons?

downwardspiral 09-13-2010 06:50 AM

It looks quite like a Weatherspoons. Our Weatherspoons is okay, there's one corner of the bar which is particularly nice, it has big couches and book shelves. The rest is quite gloomy and dark though.

When I was living in Wales I enjoyed Wetherspoons quite a bit. Good food, good atmosphere, and great prices. Going from paying 90p for a pint of Guinness to 8 dollars Canadian was a little unsettling.
