City centre near the Tesco Express that's in an old building and not a purpose built unit. If that helps. I wasn't drunk at the time but it was a long night (we spent £230 on booze and food) so trying to recall the name is rather difficult.

Start the Bus! How is Start the Bus NOT a trendy bar. You offend me sir.

In my defence I don't think I've been inside there during daylight and sober.

They weren't playing RnB and the beer was quite cheap! We don't know Bristol too well (only been there 3 times) but our 'usual' is the pub opposite the o2 academy which is a decent place but their aftershow music night (Generation X) was awful. Only stayed there for about 45 mins.

The Hatchet I do not like. Too grotty for my taste. Start the Bus is a good place to be though. A wise, if lucky, choice.

Yes but you are wonderfully clean cut and I'm a skanky old bald git with dubious music tastes so I fit right in at The Hatchet!

This is true. You may have liked The Crown, which is nearer to the Tesco Express on the edge of St Nick's Market down a side street. I've no idea what it's like on a weekday but on a friday night it's full of people who the only colour they wear is general reds or purples braided into their hair.
