I could never expect any band, reunited or otherwise, to capture that feel of Heavy Metal Maniac. That time is just done and I don't see Exciter being able to evolve beyond what they already were for the modern era. The only band I've heard come close was Wolf. The Black Flame does a standout job of sounding like an early 80s metal album without quite hitting the mark. Love it though.

As far as cheesy speed metal goes, Anvil is on the top for me. Even going into the 2000's they kicked ass.

Can't stand Anvil simply for the vocals and I doubt I'll ever get used to them. Sucks because I always need another 80s metal band in my life.

I think people have a disposition to hate Anvil ever since their documentary. They aren't the cream of the crop but that touted them as heroes.

Either way Robb Reiner's a fantastic drummer.

Never saw the documentary. Just listened to their music.

Nah I get that. Lips isn't the best vocalist out there. I still think they've been very consistent over the years and survived even when they should have gotten bad. I really think they dropped off only in the past year or two.

Still one of the worst songs I've heard this year:
