Tim Maia is a legend, he was the precursor of funk and soul music in Brazil, he literally brought it from the US after he spent a year as a teenage immigrant there. And the last is super dope also, sounds a lot like Sango, a DJ from Seattle who mix hip hop and carioca funk! I'll be following your other recommendations in here, thank you!

Are you actually from Rio, cause I assume very specific people (from Rio) would know those bands. I'm starting to wonder if it's time to open a new thread for Brazilian obscure musics, I loved Chinese Cookie Poet, I could hear a cuíca and a tempo of african-brazilian rythms blended in all the noisy jazz. And Tantão e Os Fita... speechless, dope as f*ck! Thiago Nassif is the only one I already listened to, and also a great production! Man I hope there is more where all that came from haha.
