Even if you didn't go that obscure it could be rad as hell.

well, to match the music forum vibes I'm gonna quote Tom Jobim: "Brazil is not for beginners." I love my country and our culture but most politicians always f*ck up everything... despite that the rest is fine, people are nice and wheather is cool

Congada meets vissungos:

Juçara Marçal & Cadu Tenório - Anganga

Baby Hitler - Hey Babe

and, OH YEAH, the holy hellraising psychedelics of the maniacal estateman Damião Experiença (!!!):

[which one to pick???]

There are some great contemporary classical or electroacoustic composers from Brazil -
too many to mention - but one of the earliest I began listening to was (and is) the great
Jocy de Oliveira. If you can find it, I recommend a great compilation called
"Coletânea de Música Eletroacústica Brasileira" Here's a more recent performance of "Raga no Amazonas."

Today the beats shown below is the current trend. Man I'm seriously learning a lot from you, especially when it comes to electroacoustic that I only know Juçara Marçal. Thanx a million

2010's São Paulo Baile Funk style: *please don't mind the video with minors doing that bizarre dancing...

Mods may want to consider moving the latter portion of this thread somewhere else
since it's gone beyond the "Introductions" phase. Maybe in "World Music ..."?

xico: Yup, I know about MC 7 Belo and guys like MC Rick, etc.,
but I haven't seen that video - which is pretty great in its freeform stylin' kidness.
Yeah, and some of that gang-funk "putaria" stuff gets pretty hot sometimes,
but it's the rhythm that counts for me.

The only electroacoustic stuff I posted was the Jocy de Oliveira piece,
but there are a lot of other names you can look into - like, Jorge Antunes,
Eduardo Reck Miranda and a nice fellow that I met and studied a little bit with, Flo Menezes.

Here's some modern Afro-Brazilian(ish):
