Default Hi People

Thought I would introduce myself before posting so people don't say "who's the new weirdo?" I've been collecting music for about 30 years. Mostly obscure hard to find blues, psych and prog rock. 1966-1974 seems to be my sweet spot.

I also play the drums. Completely self taught aside from lessons in the third grade.

Well, I'm not sure. I have their "Meet the Residents" CD which is like a car crash on the motorway. There's bits of stuff everywhere and you drive past slow not able to stop looking. For me they are either "oh that's clever' or "what was the point of that?".

Welcome to the forum. What are some of your favourite artists or some of the best prog and psych obscurities you've got under your belt?

You might like a lot of the albums that this youtube channel posts: Terminal Passage

Nice answer.

I hope you hang around.

My favorite band of all time is The Who. They started me on this journey. Some of my favorite obscurities would be Shy Limbs and Tintern Abbey from the UK. Hiro Yanagida and Strawberry Path from Japan. Whalefeathers and Salem Mass from the US. Too many to remember.

Thanks! Just checked it out. Pappalardi and Creation! I love Mountain and the Creation, especially Creation's album with Carmen Maki.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Who are you favorite bands? albums?

I like Blues, Psychedelia, Progressive Rock, Acid Rock, Psychedelic Folk etc etc.

One of my favorite drum album is Pre-Flight by Room. It one of those rare records that has it all: Psychedelic/Acid Rock, Blues, Orchestral Rock. Bob Jenkins does amazing cymbal work and his soupy hi-hat is impeccable on that album.

I don't recognize the name "Room" but "Pre Flight" sounds very familiar. I just checked it out on Youtube. Thanks for turning me on to something new.

Hi, The Booman ! I like your user name; it sounds as if you are full of surprises, but friendly too. I hope that's the case.

It's good to have someone new with an interest in blues/prog etc. I see Frownland, OH and Neapolitan have introduced themselves, and you will soon meet our other resident experts, Psy-Fi, rostasi, etc. And me? I'm the guy who posts, "ooh thanks" when they show me something new.

Welcome!
