Default Music and wine enthusiast from Morocco

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well amidst these trying times.

I'm a 29 year old male from Morocco who is a nerd and who enjoys a variety of media including music, films, anime and novels. I'm also quite the wine (and a variety of other alcoholic beverages) enthusiast, so I enjoy talking about those as well.

I'm also gay, but as you can imagine, I'm not really open about my sexuality, considering where I live. However, I'm out to a handful of close friends and I've been in a loving relationship for two years now.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Or recommendations? I know (practically) nothing about Moroccan music or its history.

Nice to meet you.

Hi Belphegor! Welcome to MB. I think you may be our first member from Morocco.

Thank you.
As for favorite tunes, I like all sorts of music from various genres so it's hard to single out specific songs as my favorites. That said, I do have quite a soft spot for '70s David Bowie and Pink Floyd.

Nice to meet you!
Abu Lahab is a local artist who has been making interesting avant-garde music fairly recently.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to share URLs yet, but feel free to check out an album of his titled Humid Limbs of the Torn Beadsman. You should be able to find it on youtube.

Thanks for the welcome!
I'm a bit surprised there doesn't seem to be another Moroccan member here, but I believe it could be the case because I imagine this website to be more oriented towards English/American music.

Hi, pleased to meet you (and I'm always happy to meet David Bowie fans). And cool to have a member from Morocco. In terms of music this place is very versatile, with knowledge of music from all over the world, but it's quite a small community and most of the members are American or British. Also I'm really glad and impressed to hear that you came out and found love in an environment which isn't gay-friendly. You'll find that this forum actually is actually pretty gay, so that's nice.

Nice to meet you too!

I'm still closeted for the most part irl and only out to handful of really close friends, sadly, because like you said, I live in a homophobic place. And it's definitely good to know this forum is gay-friendly.

It's good to come across other Bowie fans as well, he's been quite impactful on my music listening experience.

Wow, your English is fantastic. Normally the maghrebis are focused more on French I guess.

Also, sympathies to your situation, I'm a gay Croatian living and working in a majority Muslim country where "homosexuality" is illegal (well technically anal and oral sex is illegal) so I definitely pick and choose who I come out to (mostly non-Muslim people).

Also, am hoping to visit your country one day soon, it seems to be by far the most interesting in North Africa.

Hope you stick around!
