I don't actually believe it. But ****, maybe He knew something we didn't.

Well I am sure that alot of people did actually dabble in voo doo back in the 30s, especially in the deep south. And most crossroads were notorious places for mischief back then. It must have been a spooky place to be at night.

I've heard that he used to practice in graveyards at night. I believe I heard that on the documentary about him hosted by John Hammond.

Please tell me you're joking.

Please tell me all of the horribly misinformed comments about Voodoo in past few posts have been jokes.

Howard the Duck 08-27-2012 07:59 AM

^^and what would be an informed opinion?

That Voodoo is a hybrid religion of west African Vodun and Christianity which has nothing to do with selling your soul to the devil. And that Screamin' Jay Hawkins dressing up in campy costumes doesn't make him a practitioner of that religion any more than Sunn0))) dressing up in robes makes them druid priests.

duga 08-27-2012 09:11 AM

Hahaha... Yeah, blues has virtually nothing to do with voodoo. If there was any selling of souls going on, it was to the Christian devil.

What does your wiki post have to do with Robert Johnson, or the culture concerning the southern states during the 30s? Are you drinking while on the job again Janszoon?

Er... what? You brought up Voodoo, I was just responding to the ignorant comments. And how is that a "wiki post" out of curiosity?
