I'm still trying to forget.;)

infusician 03-25-2008 06:15 PM

He's not a bad (as in awful) artist! Although, everyone made fun of his music at the music school I attended.

I think he still holds the record for playing the longest amount of time in one single breathe.

jackhammer 03-25-2008 06:49 PM

He is still a pool of stagnant water in the ever flowing river of life. Wow what an analogy!

I think I have been a little sick.

Rubber 03-25-2008 07:13 PM

I'm just going to go out and say it, because I know we're all thinking it.

What a hottie.

jackhammer 03-25-2008 07:24 PM

Kenny G

Candy Dulfer

You decide!

Athos310 04-23-2008 08:09 PM

may he burn forever with his "rotational breathing" or whatever its called...

abofkills 05-08-2008 12:49 PM

he reminds me of getting fillings at the dentist

teh seamonster 07-25-2008 09:19 AM

spawns sadness, a never ending sadness, like the hour long notes he holds.

Terrible improv, most of his (or other people's) songs don't swing, and there is barely any association with the jazz tradition. All clues that lead to the placement of an artist into the jazz category.

he doesn't belong in the jazz category :soapbox:

Kenny G album artwork at it's most hilarious:

RockGuitar101 09-25-2008 03:39 PM

Where is he today
It's funny how young people today call the old artist of yesteryear awefull.
It doesn't make anyone believe it any more though

I was around when he was current and I think he is awful.

kyleargyle 09-26-2008 09:19 AM

Sadly, yes, I do.

Performit 09-28-2008 04:34 PM

Ah come on, he plays a mean sax.

audiohenge 10-20-2008 09:28 PM

I just saw him in an episode of Dirty Sexy Money. So he's still alive (if you can call that living).

sleepy jack 10-20-2008 09:48 PM

Look what happens when white people take over rock and roll...you eventually get Nickelback. We take rap, you get eminem. So what do we do? We try and invade jazz next and we give the world Kenny G! I propose we enslave ourselves or at least don't let us near anymore genres.

badmusicisbad 10-24-2008 07:13 AM

If I ever meet Kenny G I swear I'm gonna drop kick him.

Race has nothing to do with how good you are in a genre, except commercially. And that first analogy made me laugh, since when was rock and roll NOT dominated by white people?

sleepy jack 10-26-2008 09:45 PM

Learn rock history then get back to me before you say something stupid again.

khfreek 10-27-2008 03:24 PM

Ok, there was plenty of black people involved in the development of rock and roll, and they were good. But what you're getting at is that only white people make bad music. There's plenty of bad music by black, Hispanic, and Asian people, just as there's plenty of examples of good rock bands that *GASP* have all white members! If you're not implying that, then please, clarify for me.

lucifer_sam 10-30-2008 09:02 PM

I know this is old.

I understand that this was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but it's certainly a dominant mentality.

And you're just straight up wrong. To even suggest that invalidates everything that those musicians stood for, black and white. Some of the greatest jazz musicians have been white, among them:

Bill Evans
Django Reinhardt
Chet Baker
Dave Brubeck
Gil Evans
Stan Getz

I don't want to even get started on hip-hop and rock, because it's obvious you're not going to respond. But a message to everyone else: the color of your skin is NOT an index of your musical abilities (good or bad).

Bearing that in mind, Kenny G still sucks. Just not because he's white.

asahd3 11-02-2008 06:49 AM

I love Kenny G but I can only take so much. Love listening to him at Christmas time. he has two great albums.

lvsimo77 11-02-2008 10:50 PM

My parents listen to his Christmas albums. Their decent background music.

Son_of_Mr_Greengenes 11-02-2008 11:44 PM

Kenny G is a sad excuse for a Jazz musician.

toejamfootballs 01-10-2009 12:23 AM

He's the worst thing that ever happened to the Jazz genre.

ixtlan22 02-20-2009 12:39 PM

As a drummer I resent that you put a drummer after the words "or is it." Whats that supposed to mean eh?! Also. Kenny G still sucks. His melodies are not good either. If he appeals to your heart then your heart is wrong. Welcome to the forum.

^ All meant in good fun. Feel free to rip on me any time.

Dimebagblues22 02-23-2009 04:32 PM

Oh man, I used to listen to kenny g when I was younger. I also have a fond memory of listening to his music in the local shop n save.

LeftInCompany 02-27-2009 02:10 PM

as corny as i think he is now, he had skills.... I wouldn't mind playing him when i feel like emotionally wounded i guess.

Megadead2 03-02-2009 07:29 PM

Music for supermarkets. That's not neccesarily a bad thing, it just means I would never go out of my way to listen to him.

MagneticVoodoo 03-02-2009 07:46 PM

now why would i want to do that?

Dimebagblues22 03-03-2009 09:21 AM

Wait, didnt he have the worlds longest flute note or something?

jackhammer 03-03-2009 10:37 AM
