You'll notice I'm over using the smilies in replies to your posts lately, so you don't think I'm being sarcastic.

Thanks for the incredibly quick and not entirely unexpected pm btw.

Right then...to say she's more interesting than Winehouse was a bit wide of the mark.
Her subject matter isn't as cutting, but she is more versatile.
That's why I compared her to Eva Cassidy.

She does have an exquisite singing voice, but she lacks direction.
She's needs to balls it up a bit more.

Somewhat agree. Although Winehouse dips her toe in Soul and Funk and Gardot is definitely old school which makes her less edgy but more appealing on an emotional front to me. She is also not a skank.

In all seriousness I am just dissapointed that someone with that good a voice is not recognised at least in the Katie Meula etc market (and a lot better to boot).

I'm only going off what I've heard so far, which is mainly jazz style.
I reckon she could do blues well.
What's the album like? Does she mix it up a bit?

No it's an unashamedly old school Jazz record although from track 6 onwards it's pure win.

Gah, need to pay more attention, keep missing these threads!

'Love Me Like A River' is truly touching, the highlight of one of your recent 10 trackers, album's on the hitlist; My First Jazz Singer Album.

Who was it with a v.similar sound that sang with Herbie Hanc.ock on that channel 4 jobby.. 'abbey road sessions' i think?
