Default Film noir-like jazz?

I really want some slow tempo, "detectivey" jazz, but can't seem to find any. Uh, the only example I can come up with is the background music in Black Books in the episode where Bernard gets locked out and tries to find things to do to pass the time.

I like that and I'll probably check them out, but I'm looking for something traditional - not electronic or anything.

i'm jumping in late, and throwing things out quickly because I'm at work, but you may want to try some Portishead.

While trip-hop is only looslely associated with Jazz, it may be the ambiance you're searching for.
